Pikli and Mentimeter can both turn a presentation into a two-way session. The difference is where each product starts.

Mentimeter starts with the presentation. You build or import slides, add interactive question types, and run the whole session from one presentation workspace. Pikli starts with the live room. You keep the deck or meeting setup you already use, then add polls, Q&A, quizzes, and real-time results alongside it.

Choose Pikli if you already have a deck, webinar, class, or meeting and want a focused interaction layer without moving the presentation into a new editor. Its free plan includes live Q&A with moderation, the core poll types, live reactions, CSV export, and up to 50 participants per room.

Choose Mentimeter if you want to create the presentation and the interactions in the same product. It has a larger slide system, AI-assisted presentation creation, presentation imports on paid plans, deeper design controls, and team or enterprise administration.

Neither choice is automatically better. A facilitator running quick weekly sessions has different needs from a communications team producing branded all-hands presentations.

Where Pikli fits better

You want to keep your existing deck

Many presenters do not need another slide editor. They already have a PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Slides deck, webinar platform, or lesson plan that works.

With Pikli, the interaction is a separate live room. Put the join link or QR code on a slide, switch to the projector view when you want results, and return to the deck afterward. You want CSV results without upgrading

Pikli includes CSV export on the free plan. Mentimeter’s help center says that downloading Excel or PDF results requires a paid plan.

CSV is not a glamorous feature, but it matters when the poll is part of research, training follow-up, or a decision log. Test the exported fields before committing either product to a reporting workflow.

You want focused room controls

Pikli is built around rooms, polls, audience questions, reactions, and a projector view. That narrower workflow means you can treat it as a companion to the tools already in the meeting.

The trade-off is equally clear: if you want slide layouts, presentation imports, shared themes, and co-editing in the same product, Mentimeter has the stronger offer.

Where Mentimeter fits better

You want one presentation workspace

Mentimeter combines content slides and interactive slides. Its current plan table lists 23 slide types on Free, and the product includes AI-assisted creation. A presenter can build the story and the audience interactions without switching between a deck and a separate room.

That is useful for training teams and frequent presenters who are willing to standardize on one authoring workflow.

You need to import an existing presentation

Mentimeter Basic can import PowerPoint, Keynote, or PDF files and add interactive questions around them. This is different from running a separate polling room beside the deck: the imported content becomes part of the Mentimeter presentation.

Import quality depends on the source deck. Test fonts, video, animation, and speaker notes before assuming a complex presentation will transfer cleanly.

You need brand and workspace controls

Mentimeter Pro adds custom design options, shared themes, workspace collaboration, and co-editing. Enterprise adds identity and user-management controls such as SSO and SCIM.

These features matter when a communications or enablement team manages many presenters. They matter much less for one facilitator who needs a poll in tomorrow’s workshop.

You run larger or more frequent audience programs

Mentimeter’s paid plans remove its monthly participant restriction. Pikli Pro advertises unlimited participants and polls, but the two products package their advanced features differently.

For a large event, do not choose from a marketing table alone. Ask both vendors about expected concurrency, moderation staffing, data retention, support during the event, and the exact export you need.

How the free plans differ

The headline number is 50 for both products, but it measures different things.

Pikli Free allows up to 50 participants in a room and 50 polls over the lifetime of the account. A recurring host can run several small rooms, but the poll allowance does not reset each month.

Mentimeter Free allows 50 participants per month across presentations. The official plan page also includes one unlimited-participant session each month. The participant allowance resets monthly, while paid plans unlock presentation import and downloadable Excel or PDF results.

Consider four questions before relying on either free tier:

1. How many people will join the busiest session?
2. How many separate sessions will you run each month?
3. Do you need moderation or exported results?
4. Do you want to build slides in the polling product?

The answers make the plan comparison much easier than counting every feature.

A weekly team meeting with an existing deck

Questions to test before choosing

Create the same short session in both products. Do not start with a feature checklist. Run the tasks that can break during a real event:

1. Build one multiple-choice poll, one open response, and one Q&A prompt.
2. Join from a phone on mobile data, not the office Wi-Fi.
3. Moderate a submitted question and show the result on a projector.
4. Export the session data in the format your team expects.
5. Hand presenter control to the person who will run the actual event.
