Pikli vs Poll Everywhere: Which Is Better?

Compare Pikli and Poll Everywhere for free limits, PowerPoint, live polls, Q&A, exports, classroom use, pricing, and enterprise controls.

comparisons live polling Poll Everywhere presentations audience engagement

Pikli and Poll Everywhere can both add polls, quizzes, and audience questions to a live presentation. They are built around different host workflows.

Pikli is a separate browser-based room. Share a link or QR code, keep the presentation you already have, and switch to the room’s projector view when you want to show results. Poll Everywhere can run on the web too, but its strongest differentiators are presentation integrations, SMS responses for selected question types, and a deeper classroom and enterprise system.

The free-plan comparison looks simple—50 people with Pikli versus 40 with Poll Everywhere—but the units require care. Poll Everywhere is moving between product versions, and its current support documentation counts the limit differently for a live room, a response link, and its earlier activity workflow.

Disclosure: Pikli publishes this comparison, so we are not a neutral reviewer. We checked Poll Everywhere’s official plan, product, and support pages on July 17, 2026. Poll Everywhere is transitioning to version 2.0, and some official 1.0 documentation remains online. We identify the version when it changes the comparison. We did not test negotiated education or enterprise terms, service levels, or real-world capacity under peak load. When a vendor changes a plan, its official page wins.

The short answer

Choose Pikli for a small workshop, meeting, or community event when you want a separate browser room. It supports up to 50 participants and includes pre-publication Q&A moderation and straightforward CSV results on Free. The plan also includes matrix polls and multi-question surveys.

Choose Poll Everywhere when PowerPoint is the center of the host workflow or participants need an SMS response option. It is also the better starting point when a school needs attendance, course rosters, assignments, and gradebook syncing. A free account can create unlimited questions, although the normal audience limit is 40.

For a basic 20-person live poll, either product can work. The better choice appears when you compare the busiest audience, the number of questions you will create over time, and what must happen after the responses arrive.

Sources for Poll Everywhere rows: official plans, 2.0 audience-limit documentation, response options, Q&A documentation, and LMS grading documentation. Pikli limits come from the current Pikli pricing section.

First, understand Poll Everywhere’s free limit

Poll Everywhere’s current pricing page calls the Intro limit a 40-person “audience size.” Its 2.0 support page is more precise:

  • a live presentation can have 40 people in the room at once;
  • when somebody leaves, a new participant can take that place;
  • a response link can collect from 40 unique participants;
  • people already counted through a response link can return and continue participating.

An older 1.0 support article describes the same plan as 40 responses per activity. In that workflow, two Q&A submissions from one person count as two responses, while each question inside a survey gets its own response limit.

That is not a minor wording issue. A host planning a busy Q&A could reach “40” differently depending on the Poll Everywhere version and response mode in the account. Check whether the event uses a 2.0 join-code room, a response link, or the earlier activity workflow. Then test the forty-first participant or response before the real session.

Pikli’s free limit is 50 participants in one room. It does not consume a second participant slot when the same person answers another poll or submits another question. The account does have a separate limit of 50 polls created over its lifetime.

New Poll Everywhere Intro accounts also include a 30-day Teams trial with a temporary 700-person allowance. Do not use the trial dashboard as proof that a later free event will accept 700 people; the published Intro limit after the trial is 40.

Where Pikli fits better

Your free event has 41 to 50 people

A 45-person workshop fits Pikli Free but exceeds Poll Everywhere Intro’s normal 40-person 2.0 room limit. That ten-person difference is small until the forty-first person is blocked at the start of a live session.

Allow for attendance uncertainty. If 48 people are registered and guests or facilitators may also join, neither free limit leaves a comfortable buffer. Choose a plan above the expected peak instead of treating the published maximum as the target.

You need Q&A approval on the free plan

Pikli Free includes question submission, upvoting, and moderation. A host can approve a question before it appears in the public list.

Poll Everywhere Intro includes Q&A. Participants can submit questions and vote, and a presenter can hide an unwanted response after it appears. Poll Everywhere’s support center identifies pre-publication moderation as a premium feature on certain paid plans.

For a sensitive leadership meeting, public community event, or classroom discussion, “hide afterward” and “approve before display” are different controls. If every submission must be reviewed first, Pikli provides that workflow without an upgrade for rooms of up to 50 people.

You want a simple room independent of the deck

Pikli does not need a PowerPoint add-in on the presentation computer. The host can keep the deck, webinar platform, or lesson plan unchanged and run audience interaction in a browser tab.

That separation helps when a speaker receives the final deck five minutes before the session or uses a managed laptop that cannot install add-ins. It also suits a shared stage where presenters use different slide software. Prepare a join card with the free Poll QR Code Generator and place it in the opening and Q&A slides.

The trade-off is manual switching. Poll Everywhere’s embedded presentation workflow is smoother when the add-in is allowed, installed, signed in, and tested on the actual computer.

You want one broad paid tier at a lower public annual price

Pikli Pro costs $12 per month or $111 per year. It removes the public poll and participant caps and adds all poll types, advanced analytics, custom branding, supported integrations, PDF, Excel, CSV, and interactive exports, and unlimited data retention.

Poll Everywhere Present is advertised as $10 per month, but that is the equivalent price for an annual-only $120 payment; there is no month-to-month Present option. It raises the audience limit to 700, increases the monthly AI allowance, and advertises reporting capabilities and email support. Pikli’s public annual price is $9 lower and its plan model is simpler.

That does not prove Pikli is the better choice for a 700-person event. “Unlimited” is a billing rule, not a concurrency benchmark. Ask Pikli about tested capacity and operational support before using Pro for a large, high-stakes broadcast.

Where Poll Everywhere fits better

PowerPoint is the presentation system

Poll Everywhere includes PowerPoint integration on the free Intro plan. Its official presentation apps also support Keynote and Google Slides. Hosts can place activities inside the presentation flow instead of switching to a separate projector view.

This is the clearest reason to choose Poll Everywhere. A training or teaching team with an established PowerPoint process can preserve its decks and add interaction at specific slide positions.

Rehearse the integrated workflow on the device and account used at the event. Add-ins reduce switching but introduce dependencies on installation permissions, authentication, software versions, and network policy.

Participants need to answer by text message

Poll Everywhere supports web, app, link, and SMS responses on all plan levels. SMS does not apply to every activity: its documentation limits text-message responses to multiple-choice and open-ended questions, including word clouds. Q&A, ranking, surveys, clickable images, and competitions require the web or mobile app.

Pikli uses a browser join link or QR code and does not advertise SMS voting. Poll Everywhere is the better fit when some participants have basic phones or cannot rely on a data connection, as long as the planned question type supports texting.

You create many small polls over time

Poll Everywhere Intro allows unlimited questions. Pikli Free stops an account after 50 lifetime poll creations, and deleting a poll does not restore that allowance.

A facilitator who runs one pulse check every week could eventually exhaust Pikli Free even if every room has only ten people. The same pattern fits Poll Everywhere’s unlimited-question model, provided each session remains within its audience limit and free reporting constraints.

You need a classroom system, not only live engagement

Poll Everywhere’s education workflow goes beyond showing a chart. Its current documentation covers course and organization restrictions, participant registration, assignments, attendance, correctness and participation grading, and synchronization with an LMS gradebook.

Pikli can run classroom polls, quizzes, surveys, and Q&A, and its Pro plan lists Brightspace among supported integrations. Its public offer does not describe the same depth of roster, attendance, assignment, and grade-sync administration.

For an informal 35-student discussion, Pikli may be enough; use the classroom polling guide to plan the questions and response rules. A 200-student course is different when responses affect grades and must map to a roster. Begin that evaluation with Poll Everywhere’s education workflow, then verify the institutional plan, LMS version, privacy requirements, and support process.

Your organization needs a defined enterprise ladder

Poll Everywhere’s business plans move from Present to Engage, Teams, and Enterprise. Engage adds attendance, archived results, and a second included user. Teams adds logo removal, custom branding, a custom URL, and phone support. Enterprise lists custom audience size, shared polls, optional SAML SSO, and a dedicated success manager.

Pikli Pro lists admin overrides, custom branding, integrations, advanced analytics, and priority support. It does not publish an equivalent SSO, user-provisioning, or dedicated-success package.

For a company-wide deployment, compare identity, roles, moderation responsibilities, retention, accessibility, data location, procurement, support hours, and tested capacity. A long feature table cannot replace that review.

How the paid plans compare

The closest entry prices are Pikli Pro and Poll Everywhere Present:

  • Pikli Pro: $12 month-to-month or $111 yearly; no public participant or poll cap; all Pikli poll types; advanced analytics; extended exports and retention; supported integrations.
  • Poll Everywhere Present: $120 yearly, annual only; 700-person audience; 100 AI prompts per month; email support. The pricing card says “reporting capabilities,” while the comparison table lists data export but reserves “Reporting” and archived results for Engage. Confirm the exact report needed before purchase.
  • Poll Everywhere Engage: $49 per month when billed $588 yearly or $99 month-to-month; 700-person audience; attendance management; archived results; two included users.
  • Poll Everywhere Teams: $84 per month when billed $999 yearly or $249 month-to-month; 700-person audience; branding, custom URL, and phone support.

Poll Everywhere displays these prices in US dollars. Education, enterprise, taxes, additional presenters, and negotiated terms can change the total.

The reporting distinction deserves a practical test. Both free-plan columns currently say “Export data,” but Poll Everywhere reserves full reporting and archived results for higher tiers. Export one real activity and confirm the format, fields, participant identifiers, and retention period your workflow requires.

Five common scenarios

A 45-person workshop with six activities and moderated Q&A

Pikli Free matches this brief. The audience fits under 50, the session can contain more than six polls, and Q&A approval is included. Remember that every created poll counts toward the account’s 50-poll lifetime allowance. If this is your use case, create a free room and rehearse the approval flow before inviting the audience.

A 30-person weekly PowerPoint class

Poll Everywhere Intro is the practical first test. The audience fits under 40, PowerPoint integration is included, and the instructor can create unlimited questions. If questions affect grades or attendance, evaluate the education and LMS plan rather than assuming Intro covers that workflow.

A 200-student graded lecture

Move directly to Poll Everywhere’s paid education evaluation. Its 700-person business tiers show sufficient headline capacity, and its education system documents roster, attendance, assignment, and gradebook workflows. Confirm which education plan contains the required features.

A 50-person product workshop that needs matrix questions and CSV

Pikli Free covers the required formats and export. Matrix polls are part of its free core set, and CSV export is explicit. Run a rehearsal because the room is exactly at the published participant limit and leaves no buffer.

A managed company-wide program

Put Poll Everywhere on the procurement shortlist if SAML SSO, shared content, dedicated success, and documented organizational controls are requirements. Include Pikli after the team defines which controls are mandatory and confirms what its Pro plan can support.

What to test before choosing

Build the same session in both products and use the equipment, network, and accounts planned for the live event:

  1. Create four polls, including one open-text activity, and one Q&A.
  2. Join from a phone through the displayed link or code.
  3. Submit an unapproved question and verify what the audience sees.
  4. Run the presentation full screen and move between two interactions.
  5. Export the results and open them in the reporting tool your team uses.
  6. Test one participant above the expected free or paid limit.
  7. Ask a second host to take over without using the original host’s notes.

If Poll Everywhere is the candidate, repeat the limit test in the exact 1.0 or 2.0 workflow assigned to the account. If Pikli is the candidate for a large paid event, get a tested-capacity answer rather than relying only on the absence of a billing cap.

Final verdict

Pikli is the stronger free choice for a browser-based room with 41 to 50 people, pre-publication Q&A moderation, or a straightforward small-session workflow. Its paid plan is also simpler and slightly less expensive than Poll Everywhere Present on the current public annual prices.

Poll Everywhere is the stronger choice for PowerPoint-centered presenting, SMS responses, unlimited question creation on a free account, higher education administration, and enterprise identity or support requirements. Its free capacity is lower, but its product scope is broader.
